When Shao Kahn hadnīt succeeded in capturing the Earthrealm again he was so angry as he can. He decide to overrule the Earth in accordance to his plan which starated 10.000 years ago. At this moment Shao Kahn had a queen. She was widow of Edenian king Jerrod and Kitanaīs mother - Sindel.
Shao Kahn married her to became emperor of the realm which he couldnīt overrule in the tournament. Not too long after the merriage Sindel commited suicide. Some legends says she went crazy and others that she went crazy because of emperor, but nobody knows it clearly.
When Sindel died Shadow priests under the rule of Shang Tsung defended her soul to leave into the heaven and caused her re-born in the Earthrealm.
When that happened and Sindel became adult it gave Shao Kahn possibillity to break the Elder gods rules and opened gates into the Earthrealm to také his queen Sindel back.
Rayden faced Shao Kahn in Earthrealm. Finally Rayden take a resolve to fight his brother the emperor Kahn. Rayden was weaken due to the unition between Earth and Outworld. He failed and so Earthrealm warriors were force to fight their first Mortal Kombat without Raydenīs help. The only help he could tell them was the vision of Nightwolfīs territory which was untouched by invasion. So Earthrealm warriors musted meet there.
Portals opened and Shao Kahn started connection of Earthrealm to Outworld. He took souls of all people to raise his strength. But there exists people from which he cannot také souls - chosen warriors. For others had opening of portal another consequences. Scorpion - the undeath warrior was send into Earthrealm hell even if he hadnīt fullfilled revenge on Sub-Zero.
Shao Kahn send annihilating armies led by Motaro to find the group of chosen warriors and kill them. Shang Tsung helped this armies because he is able to find souls of survivors.
Meanwhile Kitana serched for her mother to convince that she helped Earthrealm warriors. When she finally found her Kitana found out that her mother donīt remember anything from her past. In the end Sindel remember everything thank to Kitanaīs help and she really faced her husbandīs murderer.
Shao Kahn needed someone who can learn his warriors use Earthrealm weapons. He found that person in his former prisoner Kano who offered Kahn help and faced Earthrealm warriors.
Nightwolf used his shaman powers to protect the sacred territory. All Earthrealm warriors held for this place but not all succeeded. For example Kabal survived facing Motaroīs annihilating units but is cruely marked. Surviving warriors gathered at Nightwolfs protected territory and faced Shao Kahnīs invasion. Even cybernetic ninjas of Lin Kuei who were unsearched by Shang Tsung due to the fact that they losted their souls during cybernatisation revolt against invasion.
Sometimes during this period Sonya met Kano who worked for Shao Kahn. Both enemies fight and Sonya wins. She thought that her enemy finally died but it was not true. After that fight Kano was hardly punished and lost his privilege and emperorīs favour.
Earthrealm warriors beated invasion army and Jax killed Motaro but none of Earthrealm warriors hadnīt found in themselves enough courage to face Shao Kahn who settled in New York except Kung Lao. Kung Lao failed and his alleged death gathered his friend Liu Kang courage. He challenged Shao Kahn and beats him so he save the Earth against Outworld invasion and defend his champion title. Before portals had closed Kitana thanked Liu Kang for saving the Earth and Edenia. Kitana returned with her mother to finally free Edenia.
Meanwhile Sheeva had known about emperorīs new favourite centaurs. With Kahnīs permission centarurs attacked her gender. That furried her so much she attacked former emperor Shao Kahn at the moment when he was weakened from the battle with Liu Kang. Only Kanoīs timely intervention save his life. Shao Kahn promoted him as general of his armies and withdrawed with remains into outlying places of the Outworld.
