Conclusions
Well, it's mighty obvious the Duron is a killer performer for a value processor. At 1.1GHz, the Duron generally outruns a 1GHz T-bird on the same motherboard at the same bus speed. The Morgan's hardware prefetch lets it take greater advantage of the memory bandwidth available to it, and that leads to overall performance that threatens both the top-end Pentium III 1.2GHz and the low-end Pentium 4 1.4GHz. It's impressive to see.
The Celeron, on the other hand, is pretty pokey. The measures Intel has used to keep the Celeron distinct from the Pentium III are effective, but they've become too harsh. It's ridiculous to have a 1.1GHz processor strapped to PC100 SDRAM on a 100MHz bus, but that's exactly what you get with the Celeron. It's also likely the last of a breed, because it's very unlikely the Celeron will go above 1.1GHz while manufactured on Intel's 0.18-micron fabrication process. The Celeron is due for a die shrink, some enhancements like hardware prefetch, and—one would hope—a faster front-side bus. Even when it gets all of these upgrades, I'm skeptical about whether it will perform as well as the Duron. The Pentium III is older technology than the Athlon, and it shows in the Duron-Celeron match-up.
The Celeron and Duron alike will please the "any Pentium will do" crowd, no doubt. Other competitors, like Via's cool-running C3 and Transmeta's magical Crusoe might please that crowd even more, depending on the application.
For our purposes, though, the Duron is where it's at. Right now, 1GHz Durons are available for about $75 at bargain-basement online vendors. 1GHz Celerons are running about five bucks more than that. Price-performance wise, that puts the Duron way out ahead of the Celeron. In this battle of value processors, the Duron's value proposition is easily the best."

dávej back a sleduj grafy... TB 1.4 je navíc ještě o docela dost rychlejší než TB 1.2
